Stuart Star
The Stuart Star was a twin-screw steamer of the Blue Star line. She had been built in Newcastle in 1926 and had a mass of 11,928 tons.
She was wrecked off the Hood Point at East London on 17 December 1937 during a dense fog. There were 15 passengers on board, and a crew of 93.
The ship was carried broadside onto the rocks and became wedged so fast that all attempts to haul her off failed. She was badly holed and water poured into three of her forward holds. Her crew abandoned her immediately.
